Questo breve tour sarà davvero molto suggestivo da percorrere con i vostri bimbi.
Finalborgo, famosa roccaforte del marchesato del Carretto, mantiene ancora oggi
l'antico fascino che le è valso il riconoscimento di borgo più bello dell'anno nel 2008.
L'atmosfera e l'energia presente nelle vie e nelle piazzette del paese, regala davvero
un emozione unica e difficilmente replicabile nei dintorni.
Anche oggi è con noi la piccola Carolina che scalpita per poter visitare il suo primo
castello! Il nostro percorso comincia nei pressi del fiume, lasciamo l'auto in uno dei
parcheggi disponibili.. Accederemo al borgo attraverso una delle quattro porte.
Quella occidentale è Porta Testa dove, inciso sull'arco, troviamo l'anno di
costruzione, 10 giugno 1452 e lo stemma di Giovanni I del Carretto.
La via che si apre davanti ai nostri occhi è animata da numerose botteghe, spesso
artigianali. Prendiamo la prima traversa alla nostra sinistra che porta ai Chiostri di
Santa Caterina, sede del museo Archeologico del Finale (che visiteremo in un'altra
occasione) per dirigerci su una strada lastricata che ci condurrà al primo edificio
fortificato, Castel San Giovanni.
Percorriamo la Strada Beretta, che deve il suo nome al progettista e che fu costruita
da qui a Bormida in sole tre settimane per permettere la traversata in carrozza da
Finale Ligure a Milano, all'infanta di Spagna, all'epoca (siamo nel 1666) figlia del
regnante di questi territori. La pavimentazione diventa ben presto un ciottolato e
dopo aver imboccato alcuni tornanti superiamo un arco con inciso il nome della
strada e l'anno di costruzione.
Dopo pochi minuti, sulla nostra destra, troviamo l'ingresso al forte San Giovanni.
Impossibile non visitarlo, Carolina è già corsa dentro! La visita, ad offerta libera, è
resa possibile dalla presenza di un custode che apre le porte del forte in orari ben
precisi. Carolina è subito attratta dalle guardiole da cui si può ammirare tutto il
litorale e papà Luca la rincorre per il piazzale narrandole storie di principesse e
regine davvero surreali. Evviva la fantasia!
Una volta usciti, proseguiamo verso nord-est in direzione di Castel Govone da cui il
marchese governava il suo regno. La ciottolata è in salita tra la macchia
mediterranea fino ad un bivio mal segnalato che indica, a sinistra, il sentiero che
porta al castello. (più avanti, scopriremo al ritorno, essercene un altro più chiaro)
Decidiamo di imboccarlo ma giunti in cima possiamo ammirare la maestosa torre dei
diamanti solo dall'esterno, l'interno è visitabile solo con le guide dell'associazione
del centro storico del Finale. Ci facciamo comunque qualche foto e torniamo
indietro percorrendo il sentiero che, al primo bivio, devia verso sinistra e che si
congiunge a quello che percorreremo al ritorno. Giunti sul sentiero principale ci
dirigiamo verso sinistra e, dopo un ultimo strappo in salita, superata l'Osteria del
Castel Gavone ci fermiamo ad ammirare la chiesa di Sant'Eusebio di Perti Alta.
Affrontiamo quindi il ritorno percorrendo la via dell'andata lasciandoci alle spalle la
deviazione che ci aveva condotto al Castel Gavone. Tornati al borgo facciamo una
sosta gelato nella piazzetta principale, passando dalla piazza del tribunale con il suo
colorato palazzo e il temporary store dell'associazione artigiana "fatto a mano" di
Finalborgo. Riprendiamo l'auto e terminiamo la gita avendo vissuto una piccola ma
divertente avventura tra cavalieri, principesse e leggende.
